All those evenings my friend Kimber and I spent at the Lyric Opera in Chicago attending various operas, how nice it would have been to have a dress like this to wear instead of the less luxurious dresses I had back then! Created in sumptuous turquoise velvet, this princess seamed gown is a simple design done gorgeously. Glittery diamonds embed the velvet all around the jewel neck collar of the gown to add the perfect finishing touch. This is wealth done right, and it makes a lovely statement.

Teal remains one of my favorite colors. It doesn't hurt that it looks great on me either! This simple, yet exotic, gown is just my style for a gala event like a world premiere of an awesome movie. Not that I've ever been, but the thing about a great dress is that it makes you believe anything is possible! Without a doubt I would rock the evening wearing this dress! *grin*
I designed this dress for my younger self, back when life was still an expectation not yet realized. Done in a peaceful blue dull satin with a chiffon overlay at the bodice, this gown has some great details. The drop waist is banded to complement the pleating of the full skirt while the pleats themselves feature insets of the satin turned to the wrong side so that a lighter blue emerges when you move. The red rose at the cleavage point is the finishing touch, delineating my youth and innocence at the time. I think I did a pretty good job designing the perfect dress for my younger self, even if it took me half a century to do it. It's a shame I can't go back and give it to her. She would have loved it!
Oh, yeah! Now this is my kind of dress! Luxurious gold lame knit styled with my favorite mock turtleneck and a sexy hemline -- what's not to love? I might even have reached a point in my life when I'd be bold enough to wear this dress out on the town. Maybe. Give me an event to attend and we'll see! *grin*
Black always makes its own statement at social events. In this case, I added some bling with antique gold crinkle knit at the collar and waist overlaid with antique gold chains. For me, this dress makes a statement of true power -- the power to be female and love it! What does it say to you?
Sometimes my mind goes retro on me. This ensemble is an updated version of an early '80's style. Done in light and dark blues, it includes a front vee to the waistline and gathered long skirt. The cropped jacket has dark blue ruffled trim at the collar and down the front, as well as at the cuffs. Definitely a style for a more romantic mood!
This time I made my knit a lace! *grin* In fact, I went all out and chose a silver metallic lace knit for a very eyecatching silhouette. Finished off with a faux fur stole, it works for any gala event where it's important to shine. Now the trick is to find a lace knit like this, so I can make the dress!
I love to pair fine knits with lace! This dress is actually meant to be made in eggplant, but my pencil crayons won't go that dark. However, those who aren't into jewel tones as I am would still enjoy this dress in lavender or medium purple (as is shown here.) This is a great style for my figure, because it streamlines my upper parts, making them sleek and sexy, while giving me all the volume below the hipline where it won't do any harm. The peekaboo hem for the lace skirt ensures that my shapely legs will still be seen. Is there a downside to this stunner of a dress? Nope!
In honor of Halloween coming up, I did a revamp (pun intended) of Morticia Addams' dress on The Addams Family TV show. What do you think of my updated version? Isn't it a killer dress?
Every great once in a while I get a day to myself. When that happens, I find that my creative juices have the chance to really flow unimpeded for hours. I designed a lot of dresses today and will showcase them in the days ahead. This one is done in a royal blue silk jersey knit with a soldier blue marble shawl wrap. It's a showstopper!
