I played with my fairy program again and made this sweet goth fairy. I put her in the woods, but she looked so lonely I titled the piece "All Alone." I love this outfit with all its contradictions: the foofy skirt and spiderweb top; the adorable pixie hairstyle and double batwings; and the studded collar with cute big shoes. What a great dress!

I realize that some people have never seen these in real life, but I come from a generation that used them all the time and loved them! I found these old tape cassettes among my stash of stuff and had to make a dress from them. I like the silhouette of this dress. It's very flattering and slenderizing. And a cool white for a summer event. I can see it worn with a chic white straw hat for maximum impact. Woo-hoo!
My granddaughters were picking up their toys this evening and had their jewelry all in a pile to put away. I saw all that bling in one spot, and I got an idea! This fun summer dress turned out so awesome I wish I could make it up and wear it before it gets too cold. I'd wear it to go out to a dance club tonight!
I've always wanted to design one of those outrageous fur gowns, so I guess I'd better take my chance before the challenge ends. I took a photo of a cat from Stockfreeimages.com and manipulated it in Photoshop to create this elaborate strapless gown with plunging bodice and full circular train. I think I would actually enjoy wearing this gown, and that's a surprise to me. I don't usually do outrageous. What do you think? Should I or shouldn't I?
I bought a package of batteries for my granddaughters' handheld computer toy a while back, and today they needed to replace their old batteries with new ones, so I got out the pack. Seeing all those batteries all lined up in a row gave me an idea, so I made a dress out of them. This is a very retro '60's style, like something Jackie Kennedy would have worn. I really like how svelte it looked, even though it's not really a style I wear. However, if I'd had more batteries in the pack I could have given the dress a mock turtleneck collar and short sleeves, and that would have been exactly my style! Either way, it's a neat dress -- which makes me glad I had the idea!
My daughter makes an incredible dish that is very healthy for you while still tasting wonderful. The recipe is called "Fresh Summer Pomodoro," but my granddaughters (who ask for it all the time) simply call it "fusilli" after the noodles used in the recipe. Today we were all slightly under the weather, so she fixed it for us. It's medicine food in that it helps your body to heal from colds and flu quickly. So I took the opportunity to make a dress out of it before we sat down to dinner. Didn't it make a great dress? Such pretty colors the veggie fusilli noodles gave this dress! It looks like autumn!
I know. Purists will say that some of these music notes are backward and therefore not playable as music. Too bad. I didn't create this dress with playing the music in mind. I created it to have fun with the notes themselves. In that context, it was perfectly alright for me to flip them around so that they became reflections of themselves. I actually expected this dress to be much harder to create than it was. Once I got the note clip art from Openclipart.org I made my staff paper in Photoshop and started to play. The resulting dress turned out so pretty! Now I just have to think of somewhere to wear it!
I got the idea for this dress in the middle of the night and had to get up and do it right then before I forgot! Using free clip art from Openclipart.org I was able to create this lovely still life of a vase of roses in less than an hour in Photoshop. It's not an arrangement you'll find at your local florist shop, but it works for a really unusual and unique dress made of partially opened roses. Since red roses are a love of mine, this dress is extra special to me! I'd wear it everywhere -- and wear it out! *grin*
Ever since this challenge began, I have wanted to do a toilet paper roll dress! Somehow I always got sidetracked. But today I realized that I'm nearly to the end of my challenge, and if I don't do it now I may not get the chance at all. So here it is! I chose one of my favorite styles: a slender dress with flared hem, V-neckline, and long sleeves. Isn't it pretty?
Today we used the Sizzix machine to make embossed dress cutouts for the girls' scrapbook pages. I have a nice Cut'n Emboss dress on a hanger die cut that makes a really cute cutout. We decided that our dresses could make a big dress if we laid them out just right, and sure enough, they did! I like the ruffle skirt of this dress, as well as the flouncy sleeves. Afterward, our cutouts dressed up the scrapbook pages wonderfully. Isn't it great when a dress can do double duty? *grin*

Denise FeltI took this challenge in the hopes of expanding my creativity as an artist. Already I'm seeing art in a new light -- as something to do for fun and not just practicality! Archives
