This one is my favorite, I think! Not only is it drop-dead-gorgeous red, but it's slender and sexy too! You can't beat that combo! I truly wish I had somewhere to wear this dynamite dress. High collar, tiny cap sleeves, figure-hugging style, and fluting at the hemline add up to some awesome sizzle. It's definitely a knock-out!

I wish I had the right backdrop for this dress; something other than our scarred dining room table. It's so pretty it deserves a better setting. The photo doesn't really do it justice, but the glass baubles shone as I made this design. Using some soft green baubles, I made the trim at the hem and neckline. It turned out to be such a delightful and fresh dress for summer! Now I want one, but I haven't figured out how to work with such a reflective (and sheer!) fabric. Maybe I shouldn't be so literal. A shimmery chiffon or silk would do. What do you think?
I just had to do something unconventional with these gorgeous silk flowers of my daughter's! So I made a caftan from them, complete with side slits for maneuverability (and sheer sexiness!) I would love to have a caftan like this, but I know I would have such a light color ruined in no time. (I'm not a messy eater, but my clothes tell a different story!) It's lovely though, isn't it? This idea came from my daughter-in-law, Breana. Thanks, sweetie!
I love big shoulders! (It's my 80's style showing through!) This lime green cocktail dress has some serious attitude, so you better be sassy enough to wear it! I'd have to wear a dark jewel tone scarf around my neck in order to get away with that neon a green near my face, but ladies with a darker complexion could carry it off with no trouble at all. It's an unconventional style, but it's also a fun one.
I've been really surprised how cool these paintbrush designs have turned out to be. They give me all sorts of ideas for fashions I wouldn't have considered otherwise. I love it when art inspires life! This is another of my fun swish dresses created in Photoshop. I love the elegant lines of this simple yet classic dress! From its jewel neckline and short puff sleeves to its slight train on the skirt, it exudes feminine confidence and luxury. Gotta make one for me for a very special occasion. Hmmm. Maybe the opera?
I love puzzles, and as I peeled grapefruit at lunch for us to eat, I couldn't help but think of the pieces of rind as if they were puzzle pieces waiting to be made into a picture. So I made a dress out of them! *grin* I've said before that I love orange and it's true. But this was even better than that, because this orange had hints of yellow and pink as well. I love the full skirt, puff sleeves, and tiny waist of this lovely dress. I would so enjoy wearing it in a rayon or crinkle chiffon!
I did it again! This one shoulder evening gown swish turned out to be very dramatic in orange. I think it would definitely make a one-of-a-kind statement worn to a gala event. Orange isn't a color everyone can wear, but it's one I wear easily. I just love it -- the brighter the better! *grin*
I've been wanting for some time to create dress silhouettes from a swish of paint, but was too timid to try it out on canvas. So I decided tonight to try it in Photoshop, since there wouldn't be any harm done if I messed up. I had a great time! This design worked for an elegant evening dress where all the drama was at the collar framing the face. I loved the shade of purple for this dress even though it's not the right shade for me to wear. It's just so vibrant! I hope to do more of these now that I've got the hang of it, so you may see more of them as I continue to play around with fun dress silhouettes.
One of Melissa's many ideas for dresses was to make a crayon dress. Tonight I finally did! The girls left their crayons out when they went to bed, so I just helped myself to them. This fun sleeveless frock looks like it's made from a bright crinkle cotton perfect for summer wear. This would be great for a bar-b-q or as a swimsuit cover-up at the beach. Add a straw hat and it could even go shopping in a tourist area. I love it -- it's versatile yet cute! Thanks, Melissa!
Shonnie suggested a banana split dress, but I'm not a big fan of those, so it took me a while to make one. Nadine helped me out by eating the fruit afterward so it didn't go to waste. I (of course) ate the ice cream! *grin* This design ended up making a pretty party dress. I loved the plunging neckline, the foofy sleeves, and the red trim to the full skirt. Thanks, Shonnie and Nadine for your help with this dress!
