The girls and I had so much fun today playing among the fallen leaves and acorns in the yard out front! My youngest granddaughter came up with a great idea: to make a dress from the tiny acorn tops. She and her sister made very cute dresses from them, then Nana tried her hand at it. I really like this chic little mini dress! The many nutty brown shades of the tops create a lovely marble effect. What a flattering dress this would be to wear!

As I was throwing out the scraps from my Physics Today magazine, I noticed this great photo of Einstein's final blackboard. Since he's one of my heroes, I decided I had to make a dress college around the picture. I went through the scraps and found a large enough piece of magnified shark scales to make a daring dress with a flirty hemline. Sharks and Einstein -- not a dress for those who lead ordinary lives!
Back when I was a kid, pieces of candy like these were sold for a penny at the local store. Now you can only find them in large bags, but it's been many years since I've bought any. I'm not a big candy eater. My weakness is chocolate! My granddaughter, however, loves these small candies and made herself a dress from her stash. Then she challenged me to do a dress too. I chose a retro slimline look, in keeping with the memories brought back to me from playing with the candies. What do you think? Isn't it totally '60's?
I was given a Physics Today magazine, so I just had to repurpose it after I read the articles. Their magazine occasionally has very cool pictures to go with their articles, so I had a blast! I made this figure-hugging dress in my favorite silhouette -- one with a mock turtleneck collar -- from the cover photo, which was a visual of digital fingerprint identification. It made for a great dress! Gotta love science! *grin*

Denise FeltI took this challenge in the hopes of expanding my creativity as an artist. Already I'm seeing art in a new light -- as something to do for fun and not just practicality! Archives
