This page spread includes a paper doll from Julie Nutting's "Collage Couture Studio Paper Dolls" book. I kept her bodice the same, but made the skirt from Steampunk fabric I designed and printed at Spoonflower.com. I also added a beaded and sequined belt. The background paper is one of my favorites from my stash; it has black flocking designs over a faded floral paper.

Here is another page spread (8x8") I did for the DAJ Facebook group. For this one, I combined fabric and paper to create the page, then used decorative stitches on my sewing machine to make the patchwork background. The little elf's dress is created from Christmas fabrics that I had in my stash. I added a pretty red ribbon bow and sash at the waist of the dress and a tiny red pompom on the cap.
This 9x9" textile collage was created for a sister site to the DAJ Facebook group, called Textile Collages. I used some of my precious Steampunk fabric from my stash for the background and added a cutout lady from a Robert Kaufman cotton print. The beautiful gown she is wearing has been embellished with a burgundy bow at the bustle, as well as beaded organza ribbon trailing down the back. Fun touches to the collage were the embroidered burgundy taffeta ribbon down the left side and the painted stained glass circular window behind the lady (made from plastic.) The beaded bottom edge is much prettier in person. You can find the Facebook Textile Collages website here: https://www.facebook.com/groups/677121152389690/
This gorgeous purple creation was designed as part of a DAJ (Deconstructed Art Journal) page spread I did for a Facebook group I joined. The skirt of the dress is made from purple foil and hemmed in mauve lace. Several flowers (including a tiny silk one) adorn the neckline. The page spread has many special features, including a quote from that master designer, Ralph Lauren. You can find the DAJ Facebook website here: https://www.facebook.com/groups/827848317264736/

Denise FeltI took this challenge in the hopes of expanding my creativity as an artist. Already I'm seeing art in a new light -- as something to do for fun and not just practicality! Archives
