This is the second dress I made for my clothesline. I used a scrap from a favorite scrapbook paper that I had held onto for years, because it was too beautiful to throw away (even though it was small.) The camera doesn't do justice to the true beauty of the paper, so you'll just have to take my word for it. I love this style of dress and have a few designs like it in my wardrobe (although sadly not in these tones.) By this time, I was having lots of fun coming up with unique dresses for my clothesline, so that they would each show different styles I loved. Rather different from the first one, isn't it?

While working with a fun panoramic canvas (8 x 24"), I got an idea for a design to create from it once the background was done. I appropriated the idea from "Art at the Speed of Life" by Pam Carriker, because I not only fell in love with the quote she used in her design, but I also have been wanting to make my own clothesline of dresses. So while the final layer of background was drying, I began making my dresses. This one is the first. I used three different scrapbook papers from my stash and my fun dress stencils to create this great summer dress. The thing is, now I want to wear it!

Denise FeltI took this challenge in the hopes of expanding my creativity as an artist. Already I'm seeing art in a new light -- as something to do for fun and not just practicality! Archives
