This gown was made for another of my granddaughters, who loves purple. The mermaid style dress has a poofy skirt in lilac marble chiffon and a two-tone lilac and aqua blue poofy chiffon cape that ties with ribbon and beads. Note the hand painted lace trim on the bodice. I really enjoy using batiks for this style of dress, because it is so easy to work with, yet is durable enough to stand up to a little girl's whims. Of course, it doesn't hurt that the marble of the batik makes for wonderful colorplay throughout the slim silhouette of the dress!
