This 9x9" textile collage was created for a sister site to the DAJ Facebook group, called Textile Collages. I used some of my precious Steampunk fabric from my stash for the background and added a cutout lady from a Robert Kaufman cotton print. The beautiful gown she is wearing has been embellished with a burgundy bow at the bustle, as well as beaded organza ribbon trailing down the back. Fun touches to the collage were the embroidered burgundy taffeta ribbon down the left side and the painted stained glass circular window behind the lady (made from plastic.) The beaded bottom edge is much prettier in person. You can find the Facebook Textile Collages website here: https://www.facebook.com/groups/677121152389690/

Denise FeltI took this challenge in the hopes of expanding my creativity as an artist. Already I'm seeing art in a new light -- as something to do for fun and not just practicality! Archives
